Welcome to Kachina Kennel Club

We are still gathering information for our site so please keep checking with us

Kachina Kennel Club has some exciting times coming up and we hope you will join us! Please check under "events" for information on the Specialty and All Breed shows April 2009 at the University of Phoenix Stadium.

The shows in April will be our 55th and 56th shows that works out to 28 years of dog shows.  Kachina has been holding AKC-approved All-Breed Conformation, Junior Showmanship and Obedience shows since about 1978.  Entries for these shows have ranged from in excess of 2200 dogs to under 1300, depending upon the locations of our show, economic conditions of the time, what clubs we associated with for the weekend (sometimes we paired up with other clubs, so that we had 3 or 4 shows in a weekend, making it more attractive for those showing their dogs).  We have had shows at Paradise Valley Park, Estrella Mountain Park, South Mountain Community College, Mesa Community College and most recently at an equestrian facility in Buckeye.

Kachina Kennel Club transitioned from being a licensed club, holding shows under AKC rules, to a Member club, which allows us to designate a representative (a “Delegate”) to vote in matters of interest to our club at AKC Delegate’s meetings.

Kachina meets once a month, usually on the third Thursday of the month at the Glendale Senior Center; our meetings are open to the public and visitors are welcome.  Special meetings are held in December, for the Holiday season, and in April, where we have our annual elections and awards banquet.  Our club elects a slate of 9 board members, serving two years, with a portion of the board being elected each year.  Our meetings frequently have a program, where an item of educational interest to the club will be covered in some detail, in addition to the regular business of the club.

Kachina donates regularly to a variety of community and dog-related interests.  In the past, Kachina has purchased an assistance dog for a child with Spina Biffeda, Bullet-proof jackets for police dogs, a tooth cleaning machine for the animal shelter, and equipment for the sites where we have had shows.  We have donated to Flood and Fire relief efforts, Animal Shelters and the West Side Food Bank regularly. We have supported AKC legislative action and Take the Lead.
Our members are active in many activities in the dog world and the community: conformation, obedience, rally, agility, Canine Ambassador and Therapy Dog visits.
